A notetaker saves you writing things down. A coach changes what you ask. The difference shows up in your pipeline rather than your notes.
| AI sales coach | AI notetaker | |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Change what the rep asks | Remove the admin of writing it up |
| Output | One or two questions, during the call | A transcript and summary, after it |
| Joins the meeting | Not necessarily, and it should not | Usually yes, as a visible participant |
| Judged on | Whether the call went better | Whether the record is accurate |
| Works on | Sales calls specifically | Every meeting you take |
Choose a coach if the calls themselves are the problem: discovery varies between reps, and deals die months later of causes that trace back to a question nobody asked.
Choose a notetaker if the calls are fine and the follow-through is not. Empty CRM notes, forgotten commitments and no record of what was promised are exactly what it fixes, cheaply and across every meeting rather than just sales calls.
An AI notetaker and an AI sales coach are both described as "AI for sales calls" and do almost nothing in common.
It joins the meeting, transcribes it, writes a summary and pushes it to the CRM. The work it removes is real. Two things follow from how it works: it usually joins as a visible participant, which some organisations will not permit, and its output is a record of the conversation you had, which is only as good as that conversation was.
A coach is judged on whether the call went better, not on whether it was written down accurately. That means working during the call, knowing what "better" means for your team, and staying invisible to the person on the other end.
"Better" has to be defined by something. For a coach that is a methodology: which pillars are covered, which were touched and never probed, and what question would move the weakest one forward.
If your reps run strong discovery and nothing reaches the CRM, you want a notetaker.
If your CRM is tidy and your deals still stall on "no budget" and "bad timing", your problem is happening on the call, and no amount of note-taking will reach it.
Repwing coaches during the call and keeps the transcript afterwards. Nothing joins the meeting: audio is captured from the tab or the system on the rep's own machine, and the coaching appears on the rep's phone, so there is no fourth participant for the prospect to notice.
A notetaker records the meeting and produces a summary once it has ended. An AI sales coach analyses the conversation while it is running and tells the rep what to ask next. The notetaker documents the call; the coach tries to improve it.
Yes. They do not conflict, especially when the coach does not join the meeting. A common setup is a notetaker for the record and a coach for the call itself.
A notetaker that joins the meeting appears in the participant list, so yes. A coach that captures audio on the rep's own machine adds no participant, and if the cues render on the phone they are not part of any screen share either.
Repwing listens to your discovery calls and puts the next question on your phone while you are still in the conversation. Fourteen days free, no card.
